ÅsaGround: Åsa Idrottsplats Visits: 1 Date: 2nd October 2022 Match: Åsa - Kongahälla 2-0 (Division 3 Sydvästra Götaland) Attendance: 123 The first weekend in October was the final weekend of the regular league season in Division 3 and below in Sweden. This time of the year you have to consider what clubs might move their games to nearby artificial pitches which makes the planning a bit tricky. We have had a lot of rain recently in southern Sweden and I noticed some of my options moved their games. In the end I decided to go to Åsa v Kongahälla in Division 3 Sydvästra Götaland. Åsa needed a point to ensure avoiding the relegation play-offs and being assured the game would indeed be played at the main pitch at Åsa IP I set off around 10.45. At 13.15, 45 minutes prior to kick-off, I parked my car outside the ground. It was quite windy and cloudy as I entered the ground and knowing there would be rain showers I was pleased the main stand had a roof. During the game we had rain, sunshine and more or less everything but snow! Someone close to me in the stand soon informed everyone that Kållered had taken the lead against Vejby. That meant Åsa had to take at least a point against Kongahälla and after a nervous 45 minutes it was 0-0 at half-time. 15 minutes into the 2nd half Åsa took the lead and home players and fans could relax a bit. Kongahälla had a few chances but Åsa were in control of this important game. In stoppage time Åsa scored again to deservedly win 2-0 and Åsa IF will play in division 3 next season as well. The weather might have scared a few fans off visiting Åsa IP but 123 is still a disappointing attendance for such an important game. Anyway, I was pleased to tick off another ground in this league and next season my ambition will be to complete the league. ![]() Entrance East Stand East Stand East Stand South End West side North End Players on their way Kick-off View of play View of play 1-0 Clubhouse East Stand East Stand Pano |
