FärjestadenGround: Tallhöjdens Idrottsplats Visits: 1 Date: 7th May 2022 Match: Färjestaden - Hörviken 0-0 (Division 3 Sydöstra Götaland) Attendance: 120 A week ago I was in Växjö for Hovshaga v Sölvesborg in Division 3 Sydöstra Götaland. My visit to Hagavallen meant I had only one ground left in order to, for the first time ever, complete this league. My remaining ground was Tallhöjden, the home of Färjestadens GoIF. Färjestaden translates to “Ferrytown” in English and the name refers to Färjestaden being where the ferries from mainland Sweden (from Kalmar) headed prior to the bridge to Öland being opened in 1972. The bridge is more than 6 km and was until the opening of the Öresund bridge (2000) the longest bridge in Sweden. I have been to the island a few times but until today I have never watched football on Öland. In nice conditions it took me around 2 h 20 min before I could park my car in the harbour area of Färjestaden. I took a few pictures of the bridge and then went to the ground. Färjestaden were hosting Hörviken and as I entered Tallhöjden I was pleased with what I saw. A grass pitch, no running tracks and a wooden main stand is more than enough at this level to keep me happy! The weather in Färjestaden was very nice but the match was unfortunately a bit boring and at half-time I hadn´t recorded any clear chances. The 2nd half was better, especially towards the end, but my first ever visit to Öland for football ended goalless. The highlight of the day was obviously to complete the league and in the coming months I should complete a few more domestic leagues. ![]() Ölandsbron Welcome to Tallhöjdens IP West Stand West Stand South End East side East side Players and officials entering Kick-off West Stand West Stand View of play View of play East side View of play North End Pano |
