GröndalGround: Aspuddens Idrottsplats Visits: 1 Date: 27th June 2010 Match: Gröndal - Västerås SK 0-2 (Division 1 Norra) Attendance: 142
* In December 2010 Gröndal withdrew from the 2011 Division 1 North season when their ground, Aspuddens IP, was not allowed to host Division 1 football. They were replaced by Karlstad BK. Gröndal will start all over in Division 7.
Gröndal are based in southern Stockholm and despite very small resources they have managed to establish themselves in Division 1 North. They play their matches and Aspuddens Idrottsplats, a ground with only a small wooden terrace on one side. There are no running tracks though and with Gröndal having only a couple of hundred spectators at their matches I guess there is no need to move to a bigger ground. I visited this ground for the first time during 2009. Back then it was not for a match but when I made plans to visit my only remaining ground in Superettan (Domnarvsvallen in Borlänge) I discovered I could combine a trip to Borlänge with another visit to Aspuddens IP, this time for a match. A friend of mine lives close to Aspuddens IP and it was actually only one stop on the metro. Today´s opponents Västerås SK are doing well, currently second in the table. As a club with history Västerås SK have a decent away following. For this match around 75 Västerås fans showed up and they gave their team a good vocal support through-out the game. They also attracted around 10 policemen to show up, very unusual for the Swedish third tier. As Västerås won 2-0 the police didn´t have too much work to do this afternoon though.
