Håstens IPGround: Håstens Idrottsplats Visits: 1 Date: 26th February 2023 Match: Varbergs BoIS - Västerås SK 0-2 (Svenska Cupen) Attendance: 332 The last weekend in February was also matchday 2 of 3 in the group stage of the Swedish Cup. More or less every game in the group stage is played on an artificial pitch meaning clubs with grass pitches play at a different ground than in the league. Varbergs BoIS is an example and with Håstens IP being a ground I haven't visited before I decided to go to Varberg today for Varbergs BoIS v Västerås SK. It was a cold night in southern Sweden but in the morning the temperature went above zero. It was actually a glorious day with a clear sky meaning it would be quite cold for those of us going to football. Kick-off was at 15.00 and prior to going to the game I had lunch in Varberg. Once at Håstens IP it was obvious the ground is very basic but being there 45 minutes before kick-off I could find a seat in the top row in one of the two small stands. Annoyingly the camera-tower was right between those two stands but at least I had a good view of both goals. Varbergs BoIS beat Östersund last weekend while Västerås SK managed to get a point against AIK in Stockholm. In total 332 spectators were at Håstens IP for this cup tie and in the 9th minute we could witness Västerås take the lead from the penalty spot. Västerås SK play in Superettan but today they were clearly the better team. In the 39th minute it was 0-2 on the score-board and that was also the score at half-time. In the 2nd half Västerås had most of the possession and could/should have scored more goals. In the end it ended 2-0 to Västerås SK and with them hosting Östersund in the last round next weekend they have every chance of progressing to the quarter-finals. ![]() Entrance West Stand West Stand North End South End Players and officials entering East side Kick-off West Stand West Stand View of play 0-1 View of play South End Pano |
