Hammarby Talang FF

Ground: Hammarby Idrottsplats

Visits: 1

Date: 20th June 2022

Match: Hammarby TFF - Täby FK  3-0  (Ettan Norra)

Attendance: 312

The 5th and final match on my tour to Stockholm was Hammarby Talang FF vs Täby FK at Hammarby IP (Kanalplan). Being only 10 minutes by foot from my hotel I was at the ground on Sunday to take a few pictures. Hammarby IP was inaugurated 1915 and was used by the men´s team between 1915 and 1939. It has also been used for ice-hockey and bandy. Since 1970 Hammarby IP has been used by Hammarby´s womens team. To be able to host matches in women´s Allsvenskan the ground was renovated between 2016 and 2018. Nowadays it is a really nice ground with two seated stands and an overall capacity of 3,100. In 2018 Hammarby IF started to cooperate with IK Frej (then in Superettan) and last year the club changed its name to Hammarby Talang FF (HTFF) and was moved to Hammarby IP. IK Frej will continue to play at Vikingavallen in Täby in Division 4.

After breakfast I decided to visit the statue of Lennart “Nacka” Skoglund at Katarina Bangata. Nacka is one of Hammarby´s most legendary players and in Sweden there are two statues of him. Having been to Borresvall in Borrby earlier in the season I have now seen both statues of Nacka this year. With nothing else planned I decided to visit the Science museum on Djurgården before returning to my hotel later in the afternoon.

Kick-off at Hammarby IP was at 19.00 and the weather was perfect for football. I was outside the ground 30 minutes prior to kick-off and decided to sit in the west stand. On the pitch Hammarby TFF were in total control and comfortably won 3-0. The official attendance was later given as 312. My estimate was somewhere between 400 and 500 but I guess some of those present entered for free. Hammarby IP is well worth a visit and I am pleased to end my tour with a visit to such a nice ground. After this trip Tibblevallen, the home of Täby FK, is my only missing ground in Division 1 Norra and hopefully I will go there later this year.
