MjölbyGround: Vifolkavallen Visits: 1 Date: 15th June 2024 Match: Mjölby AI - Huddinge IF 0-3 (Division 2 Södra Svealand) Attendance: 130 With my summer holiday starting on Thursday I was in a good mood and I decided to make a mini-tour by car in southern Sweden. The plan was three matches and first up, on Saturday afternoon, was Mjölby v Huddinge at Vifolkavallen. It is around 3h 40 min by car to Mjölby and setting off quite early I could have a 45 minute lunch break at Brahehus and still arrive in Mjölby almost an hour prior to kick-off. Brahehus was built in the 1640s and suffered a fire in 1708. The remains are next to the motorway and you have a magnificent view of the lake Vättern and the island of Visingsö. Vifolkavallen in Mjölby was inaugurated 100 years ago and the main stand is a magnificent wooden stand. The running tracks are undergoing an upgrade and at the moment there was asphalt only but I guess the running tracks will be back soon. As I was waiting for the game to start I was approached by Huddinge fan Robert who had seen my name in the Futbology app. He goes to every Huddinge game and we had a good chat about football and groundhopping. With Mjölby being in the relegation play-off spot and Huddinge bottom this was an important game in Division 2 Södra Svealand. Huddinge didn´t look like a team being bottom of the table and were 2-0 up at half-time. Mjölby had chances to pull a goal back but they failed to score and in stoppage time Huddinge scored again to win 3-0. I was a bit surprised Mjölby could lose at home to Huddinge by three goals but was pleased to have been able to visit Vifolkavallen with its nice main stand. ![]() Brahehus ![]() Brahehus ![]() Information Entrance North Stand North Stand A closer look at the North Stand A closer look at the North Stand ![]() East End ![]() South side ![]() West End Players and officials on their way Kick-off North Stand North Stand North Stand View of play View of play South side |
