ÖjaGround: Björkvallen Visits: 1 Date: 13th August 2022 Match: Öja FF - Vanneberga IF 2-1 (Division 4 Skåne Östra) Attendance: 100 Having been on tour the last two weekends it was time for a local game. Division 4 Skåne Östra is one of three leagues at level 6 administered by the Skåne FA. Having been to 10/12 grounds so far I am planning to complete the league this season and one of my missing grounds is Björkvallen. With Öja FF hosting Vanneberga on Saturday afternoon I decided to visit this game. Öja is just north of Ystad and from where I live it takes just over an hour by car to reach Björkvallen. With the mercury reaching 29 degrees it was yet another warm day in southern Sweden and I brought plenty of water and a sun hat. There is a small wooden covered stand in the east side of Björkvallen and apart from the stand there were trees providing protection from the sun. 90% of those present today were on that side of the ground. I also noted the referee today was a former pupil of mine and I briefly spoke to him before the game. Öja are in the relegation zone and need to pick up points. Vanneberga on the other hand are mid-table and I expected them to win today. It was Öja who scored the first goal, but Vanneberga equalized from the penalty spot. 1-1 at half-time but Öja had been the better team so far and improvements were needed by Vanneberga. At half-time I had coffee and ice-cream and was looking forward to an interesting 2nd half. I was actually still expecting Vanneberga to win but that was not to be the case. Öja made it 2-1 early on in the 2nd half and despite Vanneberga trying their best to find another goal Öja deservedly won 2-1. Öja are still in the relegation zone but have now given themselves a real chance to stay up. ![]() Entrance East side East Stand Players and officials entering Kick-off View of play West side West side View of Björkvallen North End View of play East side East side East Stand East Stand |
