PlymouthGround: Home Park Visits: 1 Date: 9th August 2008 Match: Plymouth - Wolverhampton 2-2 (CC Championship) Attendance: 14 789
My summer holiday is coming to an end but there was still room for a trip to England and the opening weekend of the CC Football League. I travelled to Wolverhampton on Friday, via Copenhagen and Birmingham, where I stayed the night at a friend´s house. Home Park is the most southern league ground in England and with expected heavy traffic we set off shortly before 8 am and arrived in Plymouth by noon. It was raining when we arrived and that continued throughout the day. After meeting up with some other friends we headed towards a (well crowded) pub for some drinks before braving the bad weather heading to the ground. My friend, Neil, had bought me a ticket in the away end and our seats were in the 10th row (high enough to protect us from the rain) 2,700 Wolves fans in the Barn Park Stand created a suberb atmosphere and not even an early goal for Plymouth could dampen the enthusiasm of the travelling fans from the West Midlands, they had waited three months for this day. The match ended 2-2 and even if Wolves equalised with only 10 minutes to go I think Plymouth should be happy with a draw. With so many chances in the second half Wolves deserved to win and the Wolves fans can look forward to the rest of the season with some optimism. We arrived back in Wolverhamptom shortly after 9 pm and a long day came to an end. Finally, a big thanks to Neil for getting me a ticket, driving me to Plymouth and letting me stay at his house for two nights!!
