The last weekend in May meant a visit from Germany. Dirk, aka Teamchef, announced a few months ago he was planning a visit to Sölvesborg and Mjällby and I offered him to stay at my place. His journey to Sweden was slightly chaotic as his night bus from Hamburg was more than 2 hours delayed and once in a train heading towards Sweden the train was faulty. Normally the train is direct from Copenhagen to Kristianstad/Sölvesborg but he had to change trains in Malmö. The new train was also faulty and with reduced speed the train made it to Hässleholm. The train would not go any further meaning I had to initiate a rescue operation and 11.53 I picked Dirk up at the train station in Hässleholm. At 12.45, 15 minutes prior to kick-off, we entered Svarta Led in Sölvesborg and Dirk could finally relax. With its superb wooden main stand Svarta Led is well worth a visit. It has been 16 years since I last watched football at this ground and it was nice to be back. In 2008 Sölvesborg hosted Kristianstad in a (kind of) derby with an attendance of more than 800. For a game in division 3 against Saxemara the attendance would obviously be less and our headcount said around 140 spectators. No goals in the 1st half but in the 2nd half Sölvesborg scored four times to win 4-0. One of the goals was scored by 44-year old Marcus Ekenberg. Marcus has played more than 450 games for Mjällby AIF and is still going strong in the lower leagues.

Prior to going to Strandvallen in Hällevik we walked to my car to go to a grill for a late lunch. Suddenly someone knocks on my car window. It was Timo, a groundhopper from Osnabrück, who asked us if we were going to Hällevik and asked if he could join us. With buses being only once every two hours he saved a lot of time and was of course welcome into my car!
