Match: Tenhult - Assyriska IK  1-3  (Division 2 Västra Götaland)

Attendance: 239

In Division 2 Västra Götaland most teams are from the Swedish west coast but there are a few teams who are not. Tenhult have a population of 3 500 and is situated some 10 km southeast of Jönköping. Newly promoted Assyriska IK are from Jönköping and with the derby being scheduled for Friday evening I decided to go to this game. After five rounds of the league Tenhult and Assyriska IK are in the relegation zone with only a point each. As I headed towards Jönköping on Friday afternoon the weather was quite nice with sunshine and some clouds and despite both teams poor start to the season I was hoping for a decent attendance for this derby game. Not wanting to drive for 4,5 hours I had booked a hotel in Jönköping and after checking in I rested for a while before making my way to Tenhult. Kabevallen is quite a basic football ground with no proper stand but in the north side of the ground there are plenty of benches and a grass slope. In case you wonder about the name of the ground, Kabe is a manufacturer of caravans and mobile homes and the company is based in Tenhult. Anyway, as kick-off approached people started to arrive in numbers and almost 250 people showed up at Kabevallen this Friday evening. For a club like Tenhult that is a very good attendance and I doubt there will be a game with a bigger attendance this season.

Due to injuries Tenhult had to substitute two players in the first half but the home team manage to reorganize and were the better team during the first 45 minutes of the game. In the 39th minute the first goal of the evening was scored, 1-0 to Tenhult and this was to be the score at half-time. In the second half Assyriska were a completely different team and created chance after chance. The equalizing goal was scored in the 57th minute and 10 minutes later they made it 1-2 from the penalty spot. In the 74th minute Assyriska scored again and the score-board showed 1-3. A remarkable turnaround of events but Assyriska played really well in the second half and in my opinion the 3-1 victory at Kabevallen was well deserved. For Tenhult 2017 will probably be a tough year and I will be surprised if the club can avoid being relegated. Assyriska IK play at Rosenlunds IP and that ground is now my only missing ground in this division. I haven´t seen Varbergs GIF play at home either but sharing Påskbergsvallen with Varbergs Bois I have been to the ground before. Hopefully I can complete Division 2 Västra Götaland in 2017!
