ForwardGround: Trängens Idrottsplats Visits: 1 Date: 1st July 2012 Match: Forward - Vasalund 2-0 (Division 1 Norra) Attendance: 566
My second match on this trip was BK Forward vs Vasalund at Trängens IP in Örebro. Örebro is around 2 hours with the train west of Stockholm and since I had to get up very early on Monday morning I decided to book a hotel next to Stockholm C. My friend Håkan was going away as well so I couldn´t stay at his place anyway. After checking-in at my hotel I then made the one minute walk to the railway station where I bought some food and water for my trip Örebro. My train arrived in Örebro by 13.10 and my plan was to go down to Trängens IP to take some pictures and then walk to Behrn Arena, the main football stadium in Örebro, and take some pictures of that ground as well. Unfortunately it started to rain as I left the train station in Örebro. The walk to Trängens IP took me around 20 minutes. To my surprise I coulnd´t find an open gate so no pictures yet. With the rain coming down becoming more and more heavy I also decided to postpone the walk to Behrn Arena. Since I didn´t know whether I would be able to get in or not I didn´t want to get more soaked than necessary. Instead I found a restaurant for a late lunch.
As I later in the afternoon for the second time walked to Trängens Ip the rain had actually stopped and 55 minutes before kick-off I could pass the turnstyle. Trängens IP turned out to be a pleasent surprise. Two wooden covered stands with a total capacity of around 1 500. The ground felt like being in a park watching football. The surrounding grass slopes and trees make this a nice place to watch football. Being the number 2 team in Örebro Forward don´t have big crowds and today´s attendance was actually the best of the season so far. Before this match Vasalund had played 11 matches and with 8 wins and 3 draws in those matches they were of course top of the table. After only four minutes Forward scored from the penalty spot. The rest of the match Vasalund dominated but despite all their possession they couldn´t make the equaliser. Instead it was Forward who in the 88th minute could score from a counter-attack and the match ended 2-0. First defeat of the season for Vasalund and Forward are now third in the table. Despite the rain was was a good day out. Trängens IP is a very nice ground a hopefully BK Forward can make a promotion push. I now only have two grounds (Östersund and Sandviken) left to visit in Division 1 Norra and I hope to make the long trip to Östersund later this year.
