HöganäsGround: Höganäs Sportcenter Visits: 1 Date: 14th May 2015 Match: Höganäs - HIF Akademi 3-1 (Division 2 Västra Götaland) Attendance: 400
Höganäs BK used to play at Julivallen.
When I went to Höganäs BK vs Assyriska BK last year I read in the programme Höganäs BK were moving to a new ground in time for the 2015 season. The match last year was played at Julivallen in central Höganäs but the new ground is situated in Lerberget, just south of Höganäs. When I looked at a map I realized the new ground was being built next to Höganäs Sporthall, where I have played table-tennis several times. There are several pitches, both grass and artificial, at Höganäs Sportcenter but thankfully the main pitch is a grass pitch. Höganäs is around 90 minutes by car from Kristianstad and with the weather forecast saying nice weather I decided to go to Höganäs this Thursday afternoon. Being Kristi Himmelfärsdag (English: Ascension Thursday) I was free from work and with today´s opponents being Helsingborgs IF academy team (HIF Akademi) the match at Höganäs Sportcenter was of course also a derby. As I parked my car I could only see grey clouds in the sky. I looked at the weather forecast on my phone and that said sun and blue sky in Höganäs at the moment!? 30-40 minutes into the first half the nice weather arrived in case someone wonders!
There is one new modern stand, on the west side, at Höganäs Sportcenter. This stand has around 250 seats and for this match it was almost completely full. The other sides only have a barrier but for a club like Höganäs BK this is more than enough. The newly built clubhouse felt really fresh and there was a viewing platform on top of the clubhouse as well. I used this platform to take a panorama picture of the ground. The match itself was actually quite entertaining. After 10 minutes Höganäs BK had scored twice and at half-time it was 2-0. HIF Akademi are managed by former Sweden player Erik Edman and his young team played better in the second half and in the 68th minute they pulled a goal back. The last 10-15 minutes were then really entertaining with HIF Akademi going forward with more and more players and Höganäs BK counter-attacking. In the 89th minute Höganäs scored again and the game finished 3-1. With four goals, a good crowd and (eventually) nice weather I was more than pleased as I left Höganäs Sportcenter this afternoon. Sweden and Celtic legend Henrik Larsson was also at this game . He is nowadays manager of Helsingborgs IF but I don´t think he was too impressed with his club´s academy players.
Tomorrow I go to Gothenburg and on Saturday I will then go to two matches in Norway. On my way back home on Sunday I will go to a Division 3 match in Gnosjö as well. The match in Höganäs was a good start to the weekend and hopefully plenty of goals the coming days as well.
