UllaredGround: Hedevi Visits: 1 Date: 25th April 2015 Match: Ullared - Haga 2-0 (Division 3 Sydvästra Götaland) Attendance: 150 (approx.)
When people in Sweden hear the name Ullared it is not the local football team that come to mind. GeKås is a superstore in Ullared that was opened in 1963 by Göran Karlsson and nowadays the superstore is one of the biggest tourist "attractions" in Sweden. The annual turnover is several billion SEK and the record number of visitors for one day is almost 30 000. The store has recently opened a camping ground and a motel to accommodate long distance travellers. For three years starting 2011, a reality television series, Ullared, was filmed in and around the store. When I told people I was going to Ullared on Saturday I got some strange looks, a gigantic superstore is not exactly where I usually spend my spare time. When I told them I was going to Ullared to watch football people seemed relieved! Anyway, it is around 2,5 hours by car for me to get to Ullared and shortly before 11.30 I parked my car outside Hedevi in Ullared. The unusual kick-off time (12.00) meant I could combine this match with the derby in Division 2 Västra Götaland between Tvååker and Vinberg. From Ullared it takes around 30 minutes to Tvååker and with the kick-off in that game being at 15.00 I was easily going to make this double.
Hedevi is, for this level, quite a nice ground. There are no running tracks and on the east side of the ground there is a small covered stand. The west side, where the clubhouse and dressing rooms are situated, has some benches but they are all open to the elements. The weather forecast was "Cloudy and some rain showers" but apart from a short spell in the first half the rain stayed away. In the second half we could even see the sun from time to time so I couldn´t really complain about the weather. The actual match was quite entertaining. Ullared were by far the better team but they could only score once in the first half. The second half started with Ullared scoring again, 2-0 after 49 minutes. The home team could have scored more goals but in the last 10-15 minutes they seemed pleased with the three points and Ullared could easily hold on to their 2-0 lead. After the match I hurried to my car and at 14.22 I was at Övrevi in Tvååker for my second match this day.
