Where I live few clubs in division 5 and 6 have floodlights but Åhus Idrottsplats is an exception. That meant I could squeeze in one last(?) midweek game this season. There are two teams from Åhus in Division 5 Skåne Östra and top of the table Sankt Olof will actually travel to Åhus twice this week. First up was Åhus IF at Åhus IP tonight and on Sunday they are playing Åhus Horna at Furehov. Since it was a relatively long journey for Sankt Olof kick-off was at 19.30 (late for Sweden) and 20 minutes or so before kick-off I was inside Åhus IP. Åhus has a nice beach and on a warm summer day it is a very popular place to visit. Tonight there was a strong wind and I had to bring an extra jumper. Upon entering I was surprised to see so many Sankt Olof fans at the match. Around 25 fans had made the journey to Åhus and in Division 5 that is an extraordinary away following. Six straight wins for Sankt Olof mean they are closing in on winning the league. Sankt Olof has, as far as I know, never played in division 4 which of course might explain the huge interest in this match. Åhus IF are currently in a relegation play-off spot and they need to pick up points as well.

 This was an even match and in the first half both teams had a few decent chances but still 0-0 at half-time. In the second half Åhus were the better team and with 20 minutes to go it was suddenly 1-0. Åhus had several chances to make it 2-0 and really should have won this game. In the last minute of stoppage time Sankt Olof took advantage of all Åhus´ missed opportunities and equalized. 1-1 was to be the final score and in my opinion Sankt Olof should be very pleased with getting a point from this match. It will be an interesting climax to the season and hopefully I can get a match at Kvarnvallen in Sankt Olof as well.
