BK Ljungsbro

Ground: Maxivallen

Visits: 1

Date: 1st August 2025

Match: BK Ljungsbro - Hjusbro IK  2-3  (Division 3 Nordöstra Götaland)

Attendance: 426

On Tuesday I am back at work and this weekend I decided to make a mini-tour in southern Sweden. First up was a visit to Maxivallen in Ljungsbro where BK Ljungsbro hosted Hjulsbro IK in Division 3 Nordöstra Götaland. Ljungsbro is around 15 minutes by car from Linköping where I booked a room for the night at a motorway hotel. The drive to Linköping was supposed to take 4 hours but several roadworks and (above all) an accident meant I was delayed by almost an hour. I was in no hurry though and once I had checked-in I could rest for a few hours. As I was standing in the reception it started to rain and for the next 90 minutes it was really heavy rain coming down. I looked at radar images and thankfully it was not raining in Ljungsbro!

Kick-off was at 19.00 but I set off from the hotel as early as 17.30. Not far from Ljungsbro you can find Vreta kloster (Vreta Abbey), the first nunnery in Sweden, and Berg's locks. As always it was nice to be able to combine groundhopping with visiting famous sites. I parked my car outside Maxivallen some 45 minutes before kick-off and then purchased a cheese burger from the van standing next to the entrance. That was without a doubt one of the best ever burgers I have eaten, really tasty!

Last season Ljungsbro played in Division 2 and at the moment they are 3rd in the table. Hjulsbro, today's visitors, are from Linköping and 2nd in the table meaning this was an important derby at the top of the table. There are a few open stands at Maxivallen and this evening they were filled. The attendance was given as 426 and for level 5 football in Sweden that is a very good attendance. The rain stayed away and this turned out to be an entertaining evening. Ljungsbro twice equalised but Hjulsbro scored again to win 3-2 and the three points mean they are now, on goal difference, top of the table.
