BjärnumGround: Sparbanksvallen Visits: 1 Date: 3rd October 2021 Match: Bjärnum - Broby 0-0 (Division 5 Skåne Nordöstra) Attendance: 70 In 1994 I won the annual table tennis tournament in Bjärnum and was nicknamed “The inexhaustible” in the local paper. I have been to Bjärnum several times playing table tennis but today I would go there to watch football for the first time ever. Bjärnum are currently 3rd in Division 5 Skåne Nordöstra and with today's visitors being top of the table Broby I was hoping for a decent match. The most notable period in Bjärnum´s footballing history is probably 1987 - 1995 when Björn Andersson was manager. In the 1970s he won the European Cup twice with Bayern München and is one of only seven Swedish players to win the most prestigious trophy in club football. Bjärnum plays at Sparbanksvallen which is a ground with an artificial pitch. In Skåne there are only a few clubs playing regularly on artificial pitches but this season, when the season won't finish until late November, they will be useful though. There are several benches on the east side of the ground and that was where all of the around 70 spectators were watching from. To be fair, those of us present had to watch a game with few chances and at half-time it was 0-0. In the 2nd half both teams tried their best but the strikers were not exactly impressive and the match ended without a goal. My 2nd 0-0 match of the year but this was a game destined to end goalless. My visit to Bjärnum was disappointing but poor games happen and hopefully my next game will be full of fireworks!
