Kick-off in my main match this weekend, Sweden vs Montenegro, was at 20.45 on Sunday evening. That meant a chance to attend another match as well. There weren´t too many options and in the end I decided for Nacka FF vs Sandviken in Division 2 Norra Svealand. Being 3rd vs 1st this was a top of the table clash and I was hoping for a decent attendance at Boovallen. Kick-off was at 14.00 and at 12.50 Daniel, Håkan and myself boarded the bus (at Slussen) taking us to Boovallen in Nacka. 30 minutes later we arrived at the ground and my first impression was that Boovallen is a very basic ground. An artificial pitch and only one small stand is not enough to excite groundhoppers. Nacka FF was founded in 1990 and in the 90s the club played a few seasons in Division 1 Norra (then level 2) but in 2001 the club went bankrupt. Nacka FF was re-born in 2011 when Boo FF and Hammarby TFF started to cooperate and Nacka FF replaced Hammarby TFF in Division 2 Norra Svealand. The club is normally based at Björknäsvallen in Nacka but that ground is being rebuilt and Nacka FF are playing at Boovallen until Björknäsvallen is ready. According to local sources Björknäsvallen will be ready in August but those reports are still not confirmed. As the match at Boovallen was about to start former Hammarby and Sweden player Hans Eskilsson showed up as well. He is a groundhopper himself and as usual it is nice to chat with fellow groundhoppers.

Sandviken brought a decent number of fans to this important game. At Division 2 games in Sweden it is not common to hear songs and chants from away fans. It is actually not common to hear it from home fans either! It was free entrance at Boovallen but the official attendance was given as 185. I have no idea how they managed to come to that number but those of us present could watch quite an entertaining game. 0-0 at half-time but in the 59th minute Nacka scored to make it 1-0. Sandviken then created chance after chance but somehow it was impossible for them to find the net. In the 89th minute Nacka counter-attacked to make it 2-0. A very unfair scoreline and although Sandviken pulled a goal back in stoppage time the away players felt they had been the victims of daylight robbery as the final whistle went. After the match I overheard a Sandviken player telling his girlfriend "How come we lost this game, we had like 300 chances". Anyway, I said good-bye to Hans. On Tuesday he goes to Canada so he is a bit busy these days. At 16.20 I left Boovallen myself and 30 minutes later the bus had brought me back to Slussen in central Stockholm. Håkan and I returned to his place, had something and then headed towards Friends Arena for Sweden vs Montenegro.
