Höör

Ground: Färs & Frosta Arena

Visits: 1

Date: 2nd October 2010

Match: Höör - Älmhult 2-2  (Play-off to Division 2)

Attendance: 712

Mats Lilienberg has played 184 Allsvenskan matches, scoring 76 goals in total and has twice become top goal-scorer in Sweden´s top flight. Together with Mattias Thylander (190 Allsvenskan matches/8 goals) he nowadays play for division 3 club Höör IS. Höör finished in second place in Division 3 Södra Götaland, just ahead of Nosaby, and today´s match against Älmhult was the second leg in the first round of the play-offs to reach Division 2. With the first match finishing 2-0 to Höör I expected a decent crowd at the new Färs & Frosta Arena and I was not to be disappointed. 712 is a very good attendance for a match between two Division 3 teams. Färs & Frosta Arena was opened last year and replaced nearby Jeppavallen as Höör´s main football ground. I actually think the players use the same dressing-rooms as they used to when playing at Jeppavallen. There is a small main stand on the north side of the ground with approximately 300 covered seats but apart from there is no other proper stand at Färs & Frosta Arena. The pitch is unfortunately artificial but with the local council wanting to use the ground as much as possible I guess Höör IS had no other alternative. Back to the match, Höör started the best and took the lead in the 34th minute (see picture below). Älmhult managed to equalise before half-time but when Höör regained the lead early in the second half they had the match in their hands. Despite equalising again Älmhult didn´t really attack as much as I expected in the latter parts of the match and it finished 2-2. This means Höör went through to the second round of the play-offs. Next Saturday they are up against Division 2 team GIF Nike and the winner of that two-legged fixture will play in Division 2 next season.
