HuddingeGround: Källbrinks Idrottsplats Visits: 1 Date: 7th June 2014 Match: Huddinge - Västerås SK 2-3 (Division 1 Norra) Attendance: 488
The main reason for visiting Stockholm this weekend was to visit Källbrinks IP in Huddinge. Huddinge were promoted from Division 2 Norra Svealand at the end of last season and are one of two (Skellefteå being the other) clubs I need to visit this year to re-complete Division 1 Norra. Kick-off at Källbrinks IP was at 16.00 meaning several hours to kill for me. After a late breakfast I headed towards central Stockholm. In the summer few cities are as nice as Stockholm and starting in the old city (Gamla Stan), passing the Royal Castle and then walking by the seaside this was indeed a really nice way to spend early parts of this Saturday. At 14.15 I then went by tram from my hotel in Hammarby Sjöstad to Liljeholmen. In Liljeholmen Daniel and Romina picked me up and we then headed towards Källbrinks IP in Huddinge.
Huddinge is a southern suburb to Stockholm and the drive from Liljeholmen only took us 20-25 minutes. Källbrinks IP is situated in a wooden area in the outskirts of Huddinge and for a ground in Stockholm it was quite nice. The ground has running tracks and only one proper stand but the surroundings somehow made up for this. The main stand is situated in the west side of the ground and has around 700 seats. The seats are elevated and despite some supporting pillars you have a good view of the pitch. Västerås SK brought around 25 fans to Huddinge for this match. Västerås SK have a huge fan base but in recent years the football club have been in decline. The bandy section of the club have been far more successful though. Huddinge had a small group of vocal fans as well and for being in Division 1 this match had a decent atmosphere. Västerås took the lead in the first half and despite Huddinge pressing forward in the second half the home team couldn´t find the equalizing goal. Instead Västerås made it 0-2 in the 89th minute and some crazy minutes then followed. Three goals were scored in stoppage time and the match eventually finished 2-3. My last match on this trip certainly was the most dramatic one. In a months time I will travel to Skellefteå, some 1 300 km from where I live, to once again complete this division. Before that I have a trip to Lithuania and Latvia looking forward to.
