Hudiksvall

Ground: Glysisvallen

Visits: 1

Date: 30th June 2013

Match: Hudiksvall - Mariehem  2-0  (Division 2 Norrland)

Attendance: 302

After the match in Östersund on Saturday afternoon we took the last train to Sundsvall. We arrived in Sundsvall at 23.30 but it was still bright outside, Swedish summer! On Sunday morning I woke up at 9am and after a nice breakfast we headed towards the train station. This weekend there were rail works in the Sundsvall area meaning it was a bus replacement service to Söderhamn. Boris and Dirk went on a bus straight for Söderhamn and I said good bye to them as they boarded their bus. I was going to Hudiksvall for the match in Division 2 Norrland between Hudiksvall and Mariehem and had to board a different bus. There was only one problem, the bus didn´t show up. The train crew, not to mention the passengers, were more and more frustrated. What is going on? 50(!) minutes late a bus finally showed up. I was not in a hurry but others were more worried. Anyway, around 1pm I finally arrived in Hudiksvall. Glysisvallen was a 15-minute walk and along the way I walked pass a lake with plenty of birds. Kick-off was at 3pm so I walked as slowly as possible but was still outside the ground some 90 minutes before kick-off.

Glysisvallen is a basic ground with running tracks. There is only one stand, in the east side of the ground. This stand has around 400 seats. In the west and north sides of Glysisvallen there is a grass bank. With the very nice weather this Sunday afternoon some fans were sitting in the grass enjoying the match. Two of the home subs actually moved from the warm glass dug-out to the shadow behind the goal during the match. Mariehem, from Umeå, had bus problems on their way to Hudiksvall (sounds familiar!) and kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes. The actual match was very entertaining. Despite several really good chances, mostly for Hudiksvall, it was 0-0 at half-time. In the second half Hudiksvall continued to miss chances. 0-0 after 75 minutes was not at all reflecting the match so far. There was to be a goal in this match though. In the 80th minute a home player shot from outside the penalty box. The ball hit the bar, off the goal line and into the roof. A cracking goal! One minute later Hudiksvall made it 2-0 and despite creating more chances the match finished 2-0 to Hudiksvall. This was my first ever match in Division 2 Norrland and I fully enjoyed it. After the match I had dinner at a local pub before catching the bus to Söderhamn. Once there it was 2 hours by train to Stockholm. I had a drink with Footballfans James and Graeme before going to my hotel. On Monday morning I then took the train to southern Sweden. Lots of travelling but a very nice trip!
