KallingeGround: Jernvallen Visits: 1 Date: 21st September 2024 Match: Kallinge SK - Hoby GIF 1-3 (Division 5 Blekinge) Attendance: 125 At first I was planning on going to Denmark this weekend but (once again) being ill during the week I looked at fixtures closer to home. In Division 5 Blekinge the top two teams are promoted to division 4 while 3rd and 4th end up in the play-offs against teams from division 4. With three rounds to go Hoby GIF were in 4th position, just a point ahead of Kallinge SK, and when I noticed Kallinge were hosting Hoby at noon on Saturday I knew where to go. Once again plenty of roadworks but traffic was not too bad and 20 minutes prior to kick-off I parked my car outside the ground. The car park was quite big but the ice-hockey arena was next to the football ground and ice-hockey is quite popular in Kallinge. The football ground, Jernvallen, has a grass pitch but there is also an artificial pitch next door. To be honest I thought the artificial pitch was the one being used for the men's team but that was not the case. For being in late September the weather was really nice, 22 C and a clear sky. Hoby are from Bräkne-Hoby which is less than 10 km from Kallinge and there was a decent number of away fans at Jernvallen for this encounter. In total I estimate an attendance of 120-130 which is very good for this level. On the pitch Hoby GIF were clearly the better team and at half-time it was 0-2 on the score-board. Hoby had their half-time talk right in front of me and in the 47th minute they scored again to make it 0-3. In the closing stages Kallinge pulled a goal back but Hoby deservedly won and are now more or less confirmed in the play-offs.
