Ramdala

Ground: Säbyvallen

Visits: 1

Date: 24th October 2026

Match: Ramdala IF - Drottningskärs IF  1-1  (Play-off to Division 5)

Attendance: 80

This week autumn has arrived for real in southern Sweden and my last (realistic) chance of a new ground in Sweden was to attend a play-off game. Plenty of games were moved to artificial pitches but preferring grass pitches, I was pleased when Ramdala confirmed their home game against Drottningskär would indeed take place at Säbyvallen. In the promotion play-offs in Blekinge two teams from division 5 are grouped with two teams from division 6 and the top two teams will play in division 5 next season. After two rounds Hasslö and Ramdala, both from division 5, had four points while Drottningskär had 3 points. That meant Drottningskär had to beat Ramdala to gain promotion to division 5.

Ramdala is just east of Karlskrona and for me it is 80 minutes of driving. After arriving I walked on the pitch and it was really wet. It was obvious the pitch was only just about good enough to host football for the last time this year. There is quite a large grass bank in the west side of Säbyvallen and from there you actually have a very good view of the action on the pitch. Prior to kick-off I chatted with the Drottningskär chairman and he was optimistic about his team's final fixture of the year. I counted around 80 spectators, lower than I had hoped for, and almost half of those present supported the visitors from Aspö.

Ramdal took the lead in the 30th minute but 10 minutes later Drottningskär equalised, 1-1 at half-time. 45 minutes to go of the season and with so much at stake it was going to be a proper finish to the season in the lower leagues in Blekinge. In the 2nd half the pitch was really carved up and both teams had problems controlling the ball. Ramdala really should have scored from their chances but no more goals at Säbyvallen. Ramdala and Hasslö will stay in Division 5 while Drottningskär and Högadal will remain in Division 6.
