The Danish season is coming to an end and if you are lucky there are some really interesting fixtures in the final rounds. Danmarksserien (level 5) have two promotion groups (2x10 teams) where the two winners are promoted to 3.Division and the runners up play each other in a play-off for the third and final spot. In the eastern group Ringsted were one point ahead of Glostrup with two rounds to go. In the penultimate weekend Ringsted hosted Glostrup and my first game of the year in Denmark was confirmed! From Kristianstad it took me just over two hours to drive to Ringsted Stadion and an hour or so prior to kick-off I parked my car outside the ground. As I checked-in in the Futbology app I was puzzled it said Gamle Ringsted Stadion and not Ringsted Stadion. After consulting Odense´s finest, at least when it comes to groundhopping, I was told Ringsted have for many years played at the nearby “bane 4” at Ringsted Stadion and not the old Stadion pitch.. This season they have used the old Stadion for more or less every home game though and hopefully they will play there next season.

It was nice weather and free entrance and I estimate the total attendance was around 1,000. As I later checked their Facebook, Ringsted stated the official attendance was 1,185 but with a free entrance I really don´t know how they knew what the attendance was. Anyway, this kind of crowd is almost unheard of in Danmarksserien and towards the end of the second half we could watch on as Ringsted had a player sent off and a few minutes later the visitors scored to make it 0-1. That goal meant Glostrup went top of the league and with only 10 men Ringsted had an uphill battle in the second half. With 10 minutes to go Ringsted managed to equalise and Glostrup then came really close to once again take the lead but it ended 1-1 at Gamle Ringsted Stadion. These kinds of football games are really fun to visit and I will definitely look out for the scores in the final round coming weekend!
