Last weekend I watched as Snogeröd knock-out Sösdala in round 1 of the Division 5 play-offs. In round 2 Snogeröd are playing Helsingborgs AIS (from Division 5) and with the winners from round 1 starting at home I straight away knew what game I was going to attend this weekend, Snogeröd v Helsingborgs AIS at Snogeröds IP. Traveling from Kristianstad to Eslöv by car you drive pass Snogeröds IP. I have probably passed the ground several hundred times over the years and it was now finally time to attend a game of football there. There are two small stands on one side of the ground and there are also benches on both sides to sit on. With a wet pitch and leaves lying everywhere the conditions were as they should be for a crucial qualifier. I was expecting 150-200 spectators to show up but my headcount said the attendance was “only” around 110.

In the 1st half Helsingborgs AIS were by far the better team and at half-time they were deservedly 2-0 up. Having played a division above, Helsingborgs AIS were clearly used to a higher pace and I was expecting a rout in the 2nd half. The visitors had a glorious chance to make it 3-0 and Snogeröd then had a player sent off but completely against the run of play Snogeröd pulled a goal back, 1-2. In the final minutes Helsingborgs AIS scored again to win 3-1 and I can't see how Snogeröd could turn this around next Saturday in Helsingborg. Apart from the top three divisions the football season in Sweden will end next weekend and I will have to think a while where to head!
