After the 2021 season Strömsborgs IF announced they would withdraw from the league and I thought I had missed the chance to attend a match at Allanvallen. To my delight Strömsborg managed to resurrect though and the 2025 season would be their first back in the league after a 3.5 year absence. The club is located in Västra Genastorp, a tiny village just south of Osby, and I have driven past their ground many times. The club was founded in 1947 and most of the time they have played in the lowest division. Strömsborgs Idrottsplats was inaugurated in 1952 but in 2003 the home ground of Strömsborgs IF was renamed “Allanvallen” in honour of Allan Nilsson. Four years ago Allan Nilsson, at the age of 85, passed away but the ground will keep his name immortal.

My day started with a trip to Ikea in Älmhult and after dropping off my partner at the bus station in Osby I made it to Allanvallen. Strömsborg´s first home game was moved to an artificial pitch meaning the game today against Treby would be the first match at Allanvallen since late 2021. The pitch was full of dandelions but Allanvallen was otherwise a really nice lower league ground. The grass bank in the east side provided an excellent view of the pitch and I estimated around 50 spectators were present today. Strömsborg have lost their opening three games of the season while Treby have managed one draw and two defeats. The quality was obviously not the best but this turned out to be a really entertaining match at the bottom of the lowest division. 0-2 after 40 minutes but Strömsborg pulled a goal back, 1-2 at half-time. It was then 2-2 and I was looking forward to witnessing a historic point for Strömsborg. Two late goals for Treby meant it finished 2-4 though. As I left Allanvallen I was really pleased to have been given the opportunity to visit this ground and I wish Strömsborgs IF the best of luck for the future.
