TomelillaGround: Tomelilla Idrottsplats Visits: 1 Date: 6th June 2015 Match: Tomelilla - Flagg 2-3 (Division 3 Södra Götaland) Attendance: 163
6 June is Sweden´s National Day and with the weather being really nice, around 24 °C, I decided to make the short journey to Tomelilla for Tomelilla IF vs BK Flagg in Division 3 Södra Götaland. From Kristianstad it takes just under an hour to drive to Tomelilla and shortly before 13.00, an hour before kick-off, I parked my car outside Tomelilla IP. The weather was as nice as had been forecasted and this must have be one of the warmest days in Sweden so far this year. As I made my way through the entrance I was pleased to have made the decision to visit Tomelilla IP this afternoon. The small wooden main stand is itself worth the effort of going to Tomelilla IP. The far side has an open terrace and for a ground at this level I have to say Tomelilla IP is really nice. The ground was opened in 1922 but I am not sure the main stand was built then.
Tomelilla and Flagg are both newly promoted and as I understand it 2015 is the first ever season BK Flagg plays at this level. As a 12-year old Zlatan Ibrahimovic played for BK Flagg and he is without any doubt the most famous player in the club´s history. BK Flagg has started this season really well and a win against Tomelilla would actually take the club top of Division 3 Södra Götaland. In the first half Flagg dominated and at half-time it was 2-0 to the visitors from Kirseberg in Malmö. That lead was deserved and I expected an easy win for BK Flagg. That was not to be the case though. Tomelilla made two changes at half-time and suddenly the momentum changed. The home team started to create chances and in the 60th minute, with a stunning goal, Tomelilla pulled a goal back. The announcer joked and said "Your father never scored goals like that". Anyway, with ten minutes to go Tomelilla equalized and everyone at Tomelilla IP expected the match to end 2-2. In stoppage time Flagg made it 2-3 though and with that goal the club are now top of the table. With five goals and one of the warmest days of the year I was in a good mood as I left Tomelilla. Next weekend I go to Stockholm and hopefully I will see a goal at Friends Arena. Two 0-0 matches for me so far at that ground.
