The last Friday of April was a glorious day in Skåne and I decided to finish off my working week with a visit to Vanstad Arena for Vanstad v GoF (Gårdstånga/Flyinge) in Division 6 Skåne Mellersta. It was almost 20 ℃ as I left Kristianstad and after having dinner at my dad´s house I set off for Vanstad. Vanstad is situated 11 km east of Sjöbo and right in the agricultural heartland of Skåne. The population in Vanstad is less than 100 but I guess the majority of their players are from nearby Sjöbo. Between 2020 and 2023 the club played in division 5 but they are now back in division 6. The first home game of the season was moved to Sjöbo IP konstgräs and once at the ground I could understand why. The grass pitch at Vanstad Arena was in quite a poor condition but rather a poor grass pitch than an artificial pitch if you ask me. There is a small covered seated stand at Vanstad Arena and I counted 64 seats. Since it was quite windy tonight the seated stand provided cover from the westerly wind.

The attendance was around 50 but unfortunately those of us present were watching quite a poor game of football. Hardly any chances and 0-0 at half-time. In the 63rd minute Vanstad managed to score but 10 minutes later it was 1-1. With 10 minutes left of the clock Vanstad scored again to make it 2-1. GoF had a few chances towards the end but no more goals and the first 3-pointer of the season for Vanstad.
