Wigan

Ground: JJB Stadium

Visits: 1

Date: 3rd November 2007

Match: Wigan - Chelsea  0-2  (Premier League)

Attendance: 19 011

After travelling from Lincoln to my hotel in Manchester I then made the short journey to Wigan and my first visit to the JJB Stadium. The ground is walkable from the train station and I arrived with 90 minutes to go before kick-off. After picking up my ticket I entered the stadium and my seat was in the West Stand, close to the Chelsea fans. The ground has four separate stands and looks quite modern and a ground Wigan can be proud of. Chelsea scored two early goals and their fans kept on singing for most of the match and was much more vocal than I had expected. My train back to Manchester was full of away supporters and it was interesting to hear them discuss the match (and their midweek trip to Gelsenkirchen.)
