In recent weeks I have travelled a lot and at first I didn´t plan to visit a match this weekend. When the weather forecast suggested nice weather in the western half of Skåne I changed my mind though and decided to go to Höganäs BK vs Assyriska at Julivallen. Höganäs were promoted from Division 3 at the end of last year and are now playing in Division 2 Västra Götaland. Once I had passed the turnstile I looked in the programme and was a bit surprised to find out Höganäs BK will play at a new ground (in Lerberget) from 2015 onwards. The advantage with the move seems to be a chance to have all their teams practising and playing their matches at the same location. The current ground, Julivallen, is quite a basic football ground with only one small seated stand. There are running tracks but with only 3 or 4 tracks you weren´t too far away from the pitch. As kick-off approached the sun was out and I was looking forward to an interesting match.

The match was actually quite entertaining and in the 16th minute Höganäs scored from a free-kick, via the cross-bar it was 1-0. Shortly before the half-time break it was 2-0 to the home team. Assyriska BK were by now quite frustrated and in the second half they spent as much time yelling at the referee as focusing on the match. With 10 minutes to go an Assyriska player was sent off for fouling the goal-keeper. Some of their fans were furious and when Assyriska a couple of minutes later had another player sent off I thought things were to kick-off but fortunately that never happened. With a two-man advantage on the pitch Höganäs had some great chances in the final minutes of the match but no more goals. It finished 2-0 to Höganäs and I was pleased to have been at Julivallen this afternoon.
