Ängby

Ground: Ängby Idrottsplats

Visits: 1

Date: 14th June 2026

Match: Ängby IF - Skiljebo SK  2-1  (Division 2 Norra Svealand)

Attendance: 131

The weather forecast for Sunday said a lot of rain in Stockholm. I had packed my rain clothes but as I set off for Ängby IP the rain wasn't too bad. From my hotel in Alvik it was only 10 minutes on the tube to Ängbyplan and from there it was around 15 minutes by foot to the ground. As I arrived the rain had increased and I was by now in full rain gear. On the side pitches there were lots of activities with 7 v 7 youth games and Ängby IF seems to be well prepared for the future.

Two years ago Ängby played in division 4 but back to back promotions mean they are in division 2 for the first time since 2020. Ängby v Skiljebo was 3rd v 1st and one of the last games before the summer break and with it being a top game I was hoping for a decent attendance. My friends Daniel and Romina showed up as well and they had actually done a 40-minute bike ride to the ground, quite impressive. The actual ground was ok with an open terrace as well as a seated stand in the far side. The terrace was covered in green and white flags so Daniel and Romina felt at home! After a few minutes of play the rain eased and after 15 minutes it actually stopped to rain.

Skiljebo, from Västerås, took an early lead but shortly before half-time Ängby equalised. The 2nd half was quite entertaining with chances for both teams. It wasn't until the 94th minute we had a goal though and as Ängby scored the late winner subs and coaches ran onto the pitch to celebrate. This resulted in some fracas between coaches/players in Ängby and players in the away team and a few yellow cards were shown. The Ängby manager was given a red card and emotions were running high after the final whistle.
