Assyriska FFGround: Södertälje Fotbollsarena Visits: 1 Date: 28th June 2008 Match: Assyriska - Landskrona 3-0 (Superettan) Attendance: 2 263
Assyriska are a club from Södertälje, just south of Stockholm and after successive relagations from Allsvenskan to Division 1 the club returned to Superettan in 2008. Södertälje Fotbollsarena was built in 2005 and replaced Bårsta IP, an old ground which was not allowed to host top matches. Södertälje Fotbollsarena has an artificial pitch and a capacity of around 7,200 (3,600 seats) and is the home of fellow Superettan club Syrianska as well. In 2007 the immigrant derby attracted a full house (7,146) which was a new record attendance for level 3 football in Sweden. The only negative thing about he ground is probably that it is near the motorway, a good thing if you are going by car, but after 45 minutes by train from Stockholm C you have to change to a city bus and a further 15 minutes before reaching the ground itself. When you look at the pictures below the ground looks empty but Södertälje Fotbollsarena has a big main stand (3,600 all-seater) and for most matches they have all the spectators, apart from the away fans, in this stand. The match against Landskrona was as good as a Superettan match will be and after winning 3-0 Assyriska are top of the table.
