B 93Ground: Østerbro Stadion Visits: 1 Date: 6th August 2016 Match: B 93 - Brønshøj 4-1 (2. Division, pulje 1) Attendance: 431
The opening weekend of 2. Division, the Danish third division, gave me the chance to visit my first ground in Denmark this year. Choosing between Frem and B 93 I decided for the latter. B 93 are from the Østerport area of Copenhagen and their ground, Østerbro Stadion, is quite easy for me to reach. From Kristianstad I can go by train to Østerport station and from there it takes 15-20 minutes to walk to the ground. My train departed 11.25 and 13.45 I was outside the ground. Østerbro Stadion is situated next to Parken, Denmark´s national stadium and the home ground of FCK, and was inaugurated 12 May 1912 by Crown Prince Christian. Christian actually became King of Denmark two days later when Frederik VIII died. 1954/55 was the first season for B 93 outside of Denmark´s top division and the club, who until then had played at Københavns Idrætspark (nowadays Parken), played some of their games that season at Østerbro Stadion. Between 1954 and 1981 the club played at both Københavns Idrætspark and Østerbro Stadion but since the 1982 season B 93 have played their home games at Østerbro Stadion. The record attendance is from 10 November 1963 when 6 900 attended a game against Randers Freja. Between 2007 and 2009 Østerbro Stadion was renovated and the capacity nowadays is around 4 000.
Being the opening game of the season I was hoping for a decent crowd and as kick-off (15.00) approached the ground filled up and in total 431 were at Østerbro Stadion this afternoon. The majority of those supported Brønshøj but this was not to be their day. Brønshøj had a few chances early on but once B 93 had scored the first goal the home team took control of the game. After taking a few pictures I decided to sit in the Brønshøj part of the seated stand. The away fans did their best to support their team but B 93 were too good for Brønshøj and the game finished 4-1 to the home team. Brønshøj´s goal was scored with the last kick of the game so no real drama in this afternoon. At 17.13 I then made a train taking me to Kastrup airport where I could change to a train taking me all the way to Kristianstad. I was then back home around 8pm.
