Bergdalens IK have mostly played in Division 3 and 4 but in 2024 the club, for the first time ever, will be playing in Division 2. The club is based at Björkängsvallen in Borås and to get to the ground I had to navigate some narrow streets. As I arrived the car park was, due to a youth tournament, packed but I was lucky and found a spot for my car. The youths were playing on grass but the main pitch, with a small stand on the east side, has an artificial pitch. This year I have seen young “ultras” at several matches I have attended and I have also heard of it at lots of other matches. Bergdalen was no exception and I was allowed to take a few pictures of the young, enthusiastic group of youngsters who were chanting for most of the 90 minutes!

Bergdalen are in the relegation play-off spot and really needed all three points today. Laholm scored the first goal but Bergdalen then scored three goals to take the lead 3-1. The third goal was a really nice chip from 35 metres btw. Laholm pulled a goal back but while trying to find the equaliser they pushed forward with more or less ever players and in the last few minutes Bergdalen counter-attacked and scored again to win 4-2. My tour was coming to an end but in two weeks time I am aiming for a similar mini-tour in southern Sweden. Until then I will go to a few games closer to home.
