Blentarp

Ground: Blentarps IP

Visits: 1

Date: 4th September 2022

Match: Blentarp - Sjöbo  3-3  (Division 5 Skåne Östra)

Attendance: 130

For Sunday I had several options and in the end I decided to visit Blentarps IP for Blentarp v Sjöbo in Division 5 Skåne Östra. I have been to Blentarp several times to play table tennis but this was to be my first visit for football. On my way to Blentarp I passed Sjöbo and being only 12 km apart this is the biggest game of the season for Blentarp. As I parked my car the weather was nice and I realised there would be, for this level, a good attendance at Blentarps IP. There is quite a big hill on the south side of the ground but most of those present were seated in one of the many benches on the other side. I started to chat with my seat neighbour and having been involved with several clubs he had plenty of interesting stories and information.

Sjöbo are currently 2nd in the table and are more or less guaranteed a promotion play-off spot. It was the visitors who had most of the possession in the 1st half and at the break they were 2-0 up. With the Blentarp goalkeeper dislocating his shoulder and no reserve keeper being available one of the outfield players had to be goalkeeper in the 2nd half. Early on in the 2nd half it was 0-3 and most of the around 130 spectators at Blentarps IP were convinced it was game over for the hosts. In the 70th Blentarp pulled a goal back though and despite several chances that really should have resulted in a 4th goal Sjöbo failed to score. In the 82nd minute it was 2-3 and in the last minute of stoppage time Blentarp made it 3-3! Several fans ran onto the pitch to join the celebrations and this was local football at its best! For the 2nd consecutive Sunday the away team was 3-0 up but failed to win. Quite remarkable really and who knows what will happen next Sunday. A great day out for me in Blentarp and after the VAR controversies recently this was a good medication in order to restore my faith in football!
