BradfordGround: Valley Parade Visits: 1 Date: 13th April 2009 Match: Bradford - Lincoln 1-1 (CC League 2) Attendance: 12 932
Bradford vs Lincoln is not just any other game. When the two sides played each other in the last day of the 1985 season (Division 3) a fire at Bradford´s Valley Parade ground killed 56 people. Outside the ground there is a memorial with the 56 names engraved. Last season was actually the first time the two sides met in the league since that fatal fire. Bradford normally have a minute of silence before the last home game of the season but with Lincoln being today´s opponents it was decided to have a minute of silence before this match instead. When the match itself started Bradford showed an amazing ineffectivity in front of goal and the score at half time was 0-0. The second half started with a defensive blunder by Bradford which Lincoln used to score the opening goal. The home crowd was not happy with what they were seeing, "Rubbish", "Crap" and "****" were words used by home fans next to me. After two substitutions Bradford however started to play some decent football and equalised deservedly. They pressed on for a winner but couldn´t capatilise on their possession and the match finished 1-1. Valley Parade is a ground that has been completely rebuilt since 1985 and is nowdays an impressive ground with a 25,000 capacity. There were almost 13,000 at today´s game and that is really good for 4th tier football.
