Eket

Ground: Ryavallen

Visits: 1

Date: 30th September 2023

Match: Ekets GoIF - Åkarps IF 0-4  (Division 4 Skåne Nordvästra)

Attendance: 75

With most games in the lower leagues kicking-off at 13 or 14 it has been tricky to find doubles but the last day of September was to be an exception. In Division 4 Skåne Nordvästra I was missing three grounds and to my delight I noticed it was possible to visit two of them today, Eket at 13 and then Västra Karup at 16. With 45 minutes of driving between the two grounds it was a no-brainer to do this double. Ekets GoIF play at Ryavallen in Eket, just south of Örkelljungs, and it was a 65 minutes drive for me. The weather forecast said a strong wind, sunshine but also a risk of heavy rain showers. I brought all kinds of clothes but as I parked my car outside the ground a t-shirt was more than enough. Surrounded by oak (ek in Swedish) trees and a covered wooden main stand, Ryavallen in Eket is a nice ground. The far side had a few open stands as well making this a good ground at this level.

Eket were promoted from division 5 at the end of last season and have done really well in 2023. At the moment they are 3rd in the table which could mean a promotion play-off spot. Today's visitors, Åkarp , on the other hand need points to avoid the relegation play-offs and with this being the penultimate round it was going to be an interesting afternoon at Ryavallen. The 1st half was even but the only goal was scored by Åkarp, 0-1 at half-time. Eket should have equalised early on in the 2ns half but somehow missed. Instead Åkarp made it 0-2 and by now it was game over for Eket. The final score was 0-4 and Åkarp are now out of the relegation play-off zone. It will be all to play for next weekend though and Åkarp probably need another win to avoid a nerve-wrecking play-off.
