Eslövs BK

Ground: Ekevalla Idrottsplats

Visits: 1

Date: 1st September 2017

Match: Eslövs BK - Olympic  4-2  (Division 3 Södra Götaland)

Attendance: 250

Between 1990 and 1995 I lived in Eslöv in central Skåne. Eslöv is where my father grew up and as I went to university in Lund I lived in an apartment in the city centre of Eslöv. That apartment was around 400 metres from Ekevalla IP, the home of Eslövs BK. In the early 90s I was of course interested in football but I never went to Ekevalla for a game. With Eslövs BK being promoted from Division 4 at the end of last season I had the chance to finally Ekevalla though. The game in Division 3 Södra Götaland between Eslövs BK and BK Olympic was played on Friday evening with a 19.00 kick-off time. An hour or so before kick-off I parked my car outside the ground and as I entered the ground the only activity at Ekevalla was runners practicing. With running tracks Ekevalla is not the ideal football ground but at least the main stand is covered. Players and officials eventually showed up and so did more home fans than I had expected. Maybe Friday games attract more people than a Saturday afternoon game? Anyway, this was an important game for the visitors from Malmö. With one game more played than Nosaby (my local team) Olympic are top of the table but only with a single point.

This turned out to be a very entertaining football match. Eslöv made it 1-0 in the 23rd minute but shortly before half-time a strange-looking own-goal meant it was 1-1 at half-time. Eslöv then scored two goals to take the lead 3-1. Olympic pulled a goal back in the 86th minute and tried their best to find the equalizing goal. They really needed all three points but with Nosaby having a tricky away game in Trelleborg tomorrow a point would do. No points for Olympic tonight though. In stoppage time Eslöv made it 4-2 from the penalty spot and they are now third in the table. With only three games left for Olympic (five for Nosaby) they are still top but they will need help from other teams to get that automatic promotion spot. In Division 3 Södra Götaland I now only miss one ground, Hyllie IP, but with Hyllie being bottom of the table and already relegated it is unlikely I will go there this season.
