Gualöv

Ground: Guavallen

Visits: 1

Date: 4th October 2020

Match: Gualöv - Edenryd  0-12  (Division 6 Skåne Nordöstra B)

Attendance: 50

The last round of matches in Division 6 Skåne Nordöstra B meant leaders Edenryd had to travel to Guavallen in Gualöv knowing three points would guarantee them promotion. Gualöv are second from bottom and normally they have very low attendances. This was obviously the biggest game of the season for them and with it being only 8 km from Edenryd to Gualöv I realized there would be a good away following. It was a rainy afternoon in eastern Skåne but I brought my rain clothes as well as an umbrella to keep myself dry. From where I live it is only 20 minutes by car to Gualöv and 40 minutes prior to kick-off I was inside the ground. Guavallen is, for this level, a decent ground with no running tracks and a natural grass pitch. Along the two sides there were plenty of benches to sit on but today people preferred to stand up. I estimate (at least) 90 % of those present supported the visitors from Edenryd.

Looking at both teams goal difference I was expecting Edenryd to score plenty of goals and after only 10 seconds it looked like Edenryd had scored. The ball hit the wheel which is just behind the post and bounced out again. The referee didn´t spot it but to me and those around me it was a goal. Edenryd kept on attacking and in the 7th minute it was deservedly 0-1. Gualöv actually had a good chance to equalize but Edenryd was by far the better team and by half-time it 0-3 and Gualöv was by now down to 10 men. In the second half it stopped to rain but that didn´t help the Gualöv defenders. Edenryd scored goal after goal and as the final whistle was blown it was 12-0 to Edenryd. A new record for me when it comes to goals at a football match but it could actually have been even more goals for Edenryd. A year after being relegated from Division 5 Edenryd could celebrate as worthy champions and I look forward to visit Östersjöwallen sometime next season.
