Haga

Ground: Strömsbergsvallen

Visits: 1

Date: 5th August 2023

Match: Haga - Kisa BK  4-2  (Division 3 Nordöstra Götaland)

Attendance: 70

At first I was looking at going to a game on Sunday afternoon but having seen the weather forecast (all-day rain) I looked at Saturday instead. The nearest game at a new ground for me in Sweden was Haga v Kisa in Division 3 Nordöstra Götaland. IF Haga, until 2010 named Hagapojkarna, are based in Ljungarum which is around 2,5 hours of driving for me. For a game at level 5 that is quite a journey but luckily for me I could combine Haga v Kisa with a revisit to Stadsparksvallen where Jönköpings Södra were hosting Utsikten in Superettan. Since my visit in 2004 Stadsparksvallen has been completely rebuilt and I actually started my day in Jönköping with a visit there. Since I would arrive after kick-off for Jönköpings Södra v Utsikten I went to Stadsparksvallen around noon and was hoping to find an open gate where I could sneak in and take pictures of the stands.. Surprisingly I failed with that mission but at least I managed to climb the hill and take a few pictures over the ground and Vättern, Sweden´s 2nd largest lake. Kick-off at Strömsbergsvallen was at 13.00 and after a quick lunch I could park my car outside the ground with 10 minutes to go until kick-off.

Strömsbergsvallen has a grass pitch and a covered wooden main stand. For a club at this level that is above average and for this game around 70 spectators showed up. It was to be an eventful afternoon at Strömsbergsvallen where the first goal was scored by the visitors. At half-time it was 2-1 to Haga though. As the final whistle was blown the score-board showed 4-2, three of those Haga´s goals were actually scored from the penalty spot. With Haga starting in a relegation play-off spot this was three important points for them. Kisa on the other hand are bottom of the table and will most likely be relegated. I was then inside Stadsparksvallen in the 7th minute and with 15 minutes of driving between the two grounds that was earlier than I had thought!
