Haganäs IPGround: Haganäs Idrottsplats (konstgräs) Visits: 1 Date: 26th October 2024 Match: Älmhult - Nybro 2-1 (Play-off to Division 3) Attendance: 150 The domestic Swedish season is coming to an end and this weekend it was time for the last play-off fixtures in divisions 3 to 6. Plenty of fixtures were moved to artificial pitches which made the planning more difficult. In the end I decided to head to Haganäs IP in Älmhult for Älmhults IF v Nybro IF in the last group stage match in the division 3 play-offs. Haganäs is situated next to the Ikea warehouse and having been to the original Ikea several times there was no need for a GPS. Several road works on the way but 20 minutes prior to kick-off I parked the car outside the ground. Älmhult normally play at Älmevallen but their two home games in the play-offs were both moved to the artificial pitch at Haganäs. It was free entrance and my headcount says the attendance was around 150. A point would be enough for Älmhult to win their play-off group and secure division 3 football next season. Nybro made it 0-1 after only 90 seconds and the drama was on. 5 minutes later Älmhult scored twice though and at half-time it was 2-1. With Timmernabben comfortably beating Jämshög Älmhult couldn´t afford to slip up in the 2nd half. Nybro had a few chances to score but Älmhult had the better opportunities and should have killed this game in the 2nd half. They didn´t though but with Nybro failing to score Älmhult could hold on to their 2-1 lead and as the final whistle was blown fans and players could celebrate. ![]() West Stand ![]() Players and officials entering Kick-off North End East side View of play South End View of Haganäs IP West side West side West side Watching from outside 2-1 |
