Hoby GIFGround: Bräknevallen Visits: 1 Date: 19th October 2024 Match: Hoby - Märserum 1-0 (Play-off to Division 4) Attendance: 150 The regular season in the lower leagues in Sweden ended two weeks ago and it is now time for the play-offs. Last weekend I played table tennis and missed out on an interesting play-off game though. For this weekend I had plenty of options but in the end the local derby between Hoby GIF and Märserums IP at Bräknevallen was to be my choice. The play-offs to Division 4 Blekinge is played with four teams playing each other once and one team is then promoted (or staying up). With both the games last weekend ending in a draw, a win today was crucial and I was looking forward to attending an exciting game in front of a bigger than normal crowd. I arrived early (as usual) and took a few pictures of the ground before buying a cup of coffee. The weather was really nice for being this late in October but when the sun disappeared behind a cloud it became a bit chilly. Around 150 spectators, less than I had hoped for but still much better than the average, was at Bräknevallen this afternoon. Strangely enough Märserum only had one substitute which I was quite puzzled over but maybe their players had booked a holiday after the regular season. The first half was quite even and at the break it was still 0-0. Early on in the 2nd half Hoby made it 1-0 and despite Märserum trying to find the equaliser they didn´t create any really good chances. It deservedly ended 1-0 to Hoby GIF and with Hörviken and Hoby both having four points and +1 in goal difference there will be plenty of drama next Saturday.
