HöllvikenGround: Höllvikens Idrottsplats Visits: 1 Date: 26th July 2014 Match: FC Höllviken - BW 90 0-1 (Division 2 Östra Götaland) Attendance: 100
This week has been very hot in Sweden and the temperature has been around 30 °C since Monday. The weather forecast for Saturday suggested warm weather but some areas will be hit with severe thunder storms. I looked at the latest radar images before deciding to go to Höllvikens IP. Having been to the other 13 grounds in Division 2 Östra Götaland I wanted to make sure the match was not postponed as I was looking forward to completing this league. No thunder storms during the 80-minute drive towards southern Skåne and once at the ground the weather was really nice, almost too nice for football. As I parked outside Höllvikens IP I noticed a windmill next to the ground. There used to be many windmills in southern Skåne but nowadays there aren´t many left. I took some pictures of the windmill before making my way through the entrance to Höllvikens Idrottsplats. Having no idea what the ground would look like I was pleased to notice one covered seated stand in the west side of the ground plus a small terrace on the east side.
Höllviken were promoted from Division 3 at the end of last season and have been doing well in Division 2 as well. Before this match they were second in the table and as FC Rosengård, the top team, lost earlier today Höllviken had the chance to close the gap to only four points. Today´s visitors, BW 90, are in the bottom half of the table but after a goalless first half they took control of the match. With 15 minutes to go BW 90 hit the inside of the post but a couple of minutes they took a well deserved lead after some good moves. BW 90 had a young player named Kingsley who I was very impressed with. I wouldn´t be surprised to see him at a bigger club in the near future. BW 90 won this match by the only goal and with performances like the one today they should move up in the table. This was a warm day for football and for the first time I was at a match with a cooling break. 30 minutes into both halves play was interrupted for two minutes and the players could have something to drink. A good idea in this weather.
A nice summer day in Sweden (the ground is behind the windmill)
