IFK ÅmålGround: Örnäsvallen Visits: 1 Date: 17th June 2023 Match: IFK Åmål - Henån-Gilleby 4-2 (Division 4 Bohuslän-Dalsland) Attendance: 50 On Saturday morning I woke up in Borås and at the end of the day I would be at my hotel in Karlstad. In between I was attending two games and the first of these was at Örnäsvallen, IFK Åmål v Henån-Gilleby in Division 4 Bohuslän/Dalsland. Åmål is situated in Dalsland and it was actually going to be the first time I have been to a game in Dalsland, one of Sweden's 25 “landskap”. From Borås it was around 2h 40 min of driving until I could park my car outside the ground in Åmål. On the way I actually had to stop for a bridge opening and that is not something I have done too often while on tour! Örnäsvallen turned out to be a nice surprise. There is quite a big covered stand in the west side and a small open stand in the east side of the ground. With the temperature reaching 27 degrees I decided to spend as much time as possible in the shade and thankfully the covered stand provided cover from the sun. A few years ago IFK Åmål played in division 2 but at the moment they are bottom of division 6. A win today would see them advance though and it started well for Åmål, at half-time they were 3-0 up. The visitors pulled a goal back early on in the second half though and were then awarded a penalty. The penalty was missed and despite numerous chances for Henån-Gilleby it was IFK Åmål who scored the next goal, 4-1 in the 81st minute. It was soon 4-2 but IFK Åmål managed to hold on for a valuable three points. Apart from missing a penalty Henån-Gilleby hit the post four times and the bar once. They were very unlucky to lose this one but that is football! After the final whistle I hurried to my car and the one hour drive to Karlstad. ![]() Entrance Örnäsvallen North End East Stand East Stand South End West Stand West Stand West Stand Players entering Kick-off View of play View of play West Stand |
