IFK GrimslövGround: Furuskans Visits: 1 Date: 19th June 2019 Match: IFK Grimslöv - Växjö Norra 1-6 (Division 3 Sydöstra Götaland) Attendance: 230 Wednesday 19 June was the first day of my summer holidays and with most lower leagues in Sweden offering mid-week fixtures I had plenty of matches to choose from. I decided to go to Furuskans in Grimslöv for IFK Grimslöv v Växjö Norra in Division 3 Sydöstra Götaland. By car it is around 75 minutes to Grimslöv and with the weather being glorious, 25 degrees and a clear sky as I arrived, I was looking forward to an interesting match with a decent attendance. 2019 is the first time ever for IFK Grimslöv at this level (5) and they will have to fight to avoid relegation. Växjö Norra, also newly promoted, on the other hand are in the top and have a chance to be promoted. This fixture is kind of a derby and around 25 fans from Växjö were at Furuskans this evening. The attendance was given as 230 and those of present could watch Växjö Norra score three goals in the second half. IFK Grimslöv missed a penalty a few minutes from the half-time whistle and that was a big blow to them, especially since the visitors made it 0-4 in the 51st minute. IFK Grimslöv pulled a goal back but when the referee blew his whistle for full-time it was 1-6 on the score-board. Växjö Norra are now in a promotion play-off spot and hopefully I will go to one of their home games later on in the season. My visit to Furuskans was as idyllic as watching football in Sweden can possibly be and it is not difficult to understand so many foreign groundhoppers love coming to Sweden in the summer months!
