IFK Kumla

Ground: Kumla Idrottsplats

Visits: 1

Date: 2nd June 2017

Match: IFK Kumla - Rynninge  2-6  (Division 2 Södra Svealand)

Attendance: 120

Once a year I visit friends who lives outside of Eskilstuna and wanting to watch some football during my stay I decided to go the weekend 3-6 June. 6 June is National Day in Sweden meaning I was free from work Monday and Tuesday as well. After merging with Eskilstuna City the club that was last year called Athletic FC United changed their name to AFC Eskilstuna and all of the sudden Eskilstuna had a team in Sweden´s top division. AFC Eskilstuna played AIK on Sunday 4 June but wanting one more game on the trip I decided to attend IFK Kumla v Rynninge on Friday evening as well. From Kristianstad it takes around 5 hours to drive to Kumla meaning this is a ground I would not normally visit during a normal weekend. Most people in Sweden probably know Kumla for the top security prison in the town. It is one of three prisons in the maximum security category. Anyway, an hour or so before kick-off I parked my car outside Kumla Idrottsplats and I quickly went inside to take a few pictures. The weather was nice with sunshine and a temperature of around 15 °C. Kumla IP has a wooden stand with around 800 seats in the north side of the ground and the pitch is artificial. All in all an ok ground for this level in Sweden.

Rynninge are from Örebro meaning this was kind of a derby but I didn´t expect more than 100-200 to show up for this game. Rynninge are in 4th position in the table and only a few points from a promotion spot. IFK Kumla on the other hand are only a point above the relegation zone. Once the game got underway this game could have only one winner. Rynninge were by far the better and at half-time the visitors were 3-0 up. After 70 minutes it was 0-5 on the scoreboard but two late goals for IFK Kumla made it 2-5 before Rynninge scored yet again. 2-6 and an entertaining game for those present at Kumla IP this Friday evening. After the final whistle I drove for just over an hour before reaching my friend´s hous. No football on Saturday but on Sunday I will re-visit Tunavallen for AFC Eskilstuna v AIK.
