IFK OsbyGround: Osby Idrottsplats Visits: 1 Date: 4th October 2014 Match: IFK Osby - Ifö Bromölla 3-0 (Division 3 Sydöstra Götaland) Attendance: 1 086
After 21 out of 22 rounds in Division 3 Sydöstra Götaland IFK Hässleholm were top with 50 points. Ifö Bromölla and IFK Osby both had 49 points meaning a very interesting climax to the season. With IFK Osby playing Ifö Bromölla in the last round it was not difficult for me to choose where to go this Saturday. Osby is only a 45-minute drive for me and as I arrived some 80 minutes before kick-off there were already a lot of activities going on at the ground. The importance of the match in combination with a weather forecast suggesting a clear sky and +18 °C meant I was hoping that the attendance record (1 004) at Osby IP would be beaten this afternoon. Still some clouds as I entered the ground though. For a ground in the 5th tier of Swedish football Osby IP is alright. There is a small stand and a grass hill on the east side of the ground and on the west side there are plenty of benches to sit on. As kick-off approached the ground filled up nicely and in total 1 086, a new record attendance, was at Osby IP for this match. The visitors from Bromölla even had a chartered supporters bus, not very common for this level!
The match started with a bang, after only a minute IFK Osby made it 1-0. It looked like a deflected cross and the goal-keeper somehow failed to clear the ball. From my position I coulnd´t see whether the ball had crossed the goal line or not but the goal was given and the away players didn´t object. Bromölla pressed on for the equalizer but at half-time it was still 1-0 to Osby. In Tollarp, where IFK Hässleholm were playing, it was 0-1 at half-time. The second half started with an Osby player being brought down in the penalty area. Red card for the Bromölla defender and a penalty for Osby. The penalty kick was scored and from now on this match could only have one winner. The final score was 3-0 to IFK Osby meaning at least a play-off spot for Osby. The match in Tollarp were five minutes behind the one at Osby IP but IFK Hässleholm managed to hold on to their lead and were promoted to Division 2. IFK Osby will play another Division 3 runner-up next week and if they win that tie they will then play a Division 2 team for a place in next years Division 2. Matches like the one at Osby IP are really exciting to attend and tomorrow I will actually go to a similar match. Österlen FF and IFK Malmö play each other in the last round of Division 3 Södra Götaland and the winner of that match will be promoted.
