JonseredGround: Jonsereds Idrottsplats Visits: 1 Date: 2nd July 2016 Match: Jonsered - Velebit 1-2 (Division 3 Nordvästra Götaland) Attendance: 100
After ten days without football I was heading towards Gothenburg on Saturday morning. My first stop was Jonsered where at 1pm Jonsered hosted Velebit in Division 3 Nordvästra Götaland. Three hours later Stenungsund played against Rynninge in Division 2 Norra Götaland at Nösnäsvallen and this double-header was of course a opportunity I couldn´t miss. The weather forecast changed several times but the heavy rain hit Gothenburg on Friday evening and Saturday night (instead of Saturday morning/afternoon) meaning cloudy but no rain at Jonsereds IP. As I arrived around 45 minutes before kick-off the parts of the pitch were very wet but thankfully most of the pitch was ok. It was obvious the game would have been postponed had there been any more heavy rain though. Jonsereds IP is, for this level, quite a nice ground with no running tracks and proper stands in the south and north side of the ground. At the end of last year Jonsereds IF were relegated from Division 2 and at the moment the club is in the relegation zone in Division 3 as well. The table is tight though and Jonsered still have every chance of staying up. Velebit, a Croatian team, are also in the relegation zone and today´s game was of course very important for both teams.
For the matches today I was joined by Magnus and Christian and some ten minutes before kick-off they showed up. We decided to stand in the North Stand and we were quite pleased with the game. Jonsered created several chances before scoring a cracking goal in the 42nd minute, 1-0 at half-time. After the half-time break Velebit came out as a new team and in the 52nd minute it was 1-1 on the scoreboard. In the 63rd minute the visitors the scored from a free-kick to make it 1-2. Jonsered had some chances to equalize but somehow managed to miss the goal every time. As the final whistle was blown Velebit could celebrate an important victory. After the final whistle I hurried to my car and around 15.30 I was then outside the ground in Stenungsund.
Finally, I have to mention Torbjörn Nilsson. He his widely regarded as IFK Göteborg´s best ever player and he started his career with Jonsereds IF. His son actually played in today´s game and Torbjörn himself was also present at Jonsereds IP. He was more busy with babysitting than watching football though!
