LeganésGround: Estadio Municipal Butarque Visits: 1 Date: 16th February 2020 Match: Leganés - Real Betis 0-0 (Primera División) Attendance: 11 516 The match at Instalación Deportiva Butarque between Leganés B and Navalcarnero ended around 12.20. Kick-off in my second match of the day, Leganés v Real Betis, was at 14.00 but with Estadio Municipal Butarque being only 10-15 minutes by foot I was outside the ground with more than an hour to spare. Since their first ever promotion to the Spanish top flight in 2015/16 CD Leganés have gradually expanded Estadio Municipal Butarque. Opened in 1998 the ground nowadays has an all-seated capacity of 12,500 and for most games the attendances are between 11- 12,000. My seat was in the top row (11) of the west stand. Above me there was an executive box but I really don´t understand why someone wants to sit behind glass to watch football. Anyway, it was obvious Real Betis would bring a decent away following to the southern suburbs of Madrid this afternoon. I was surrounded by fans wearing green and white shirts and in total it must have been around 1,000 away fans at the match. For Spanish standards that is an excellent number. Leganés are known for being in low-scoring games and having seen them today I understand why. Leganés were solid in defense (or maybe Real Betis had poor strikers) but in attack the home team was toothless. There were a few decent chances for both teams but as the final whistle was blown the score-board said 0-0, a fair result if you ask me. Leganés are second from bottom and if they want to stay up they really need to improve their goal-scoring abilities. At 16.14 I boarded a train for Atocha and around 5pm I was back at my hotel where I had a well-deserved dinner followed by a short rest in my room. My third and final match of the day, Real Madrid v Celta Vigo was then only a short walk from my hotel.
