19 June is Midommarafton and that means no football on offer Friday or Saturday in Sweden. Plenty of games were being played on Thursday evening though and I decided to make the journey to Ölyckevallen for Löberöd v Trollenäs in Division 6 Skåne Mellersta. It is around 50 minutes to drive for me and there was heavy traffic in the opposite direction. Blekinge and Öland are popular destinations in Midsommar but fortunately for me I was driving in the other direction. With a blue sky and almost no wind it was a perfect evening for lower league football. Ölyckevallen was my last remaining ground in this league and with its wooden main stand and leafy surroundings I could hardly have chosen a more lovely ground to complete this league!

Trollenäs is where my friend Håkan played for several years and for that reason I was hoping for an away win tonight. Löberöd had most of the possession early on but from two counter-attacks Trollenäs were suddenly leading 2-0. In the 30th minute they had a player sent off though and for the remaining 60 minutes it was more or less defending only for Trollenäs. Possession must have been 90/10 to Löberöd in the 2nd half but somehow they failed to score a goal. With a few minutes to go the equaliser was scored though but with some heroic actions Trollenäs managed to hold on for an unlikely win. The quality might not have been the best but it was quite an exciting and entertaining 2nd half to watch for the around 80 spectators at Ölyckevallen.
