MultiCopy Arena (Bromölla)

Ground: MultiCopy Arena

Visits: 1

Date: 21st November 2021

Match: Ifö Bromölla - VMA  4-3  (Division 3 Södra Götaland)

Attendance: 150

Due to the pandemic the Swedish leagues (level 4 and below) didn't start until 5 June. That meant the last round of matches would not be played until 21 November. Thankfully the weather has been mild but a lot of clubs still have moved their home games to artificial pitches. In the last round of Division 3 Södra Götaland Ifö Bromölla hosted VMA in a local derby and when I noticed the game would be played at MultiCopy Arena I knew where I was heading this weekend. The ground has undersoil heating and is nicely situated next to the lake Ivösjön. It is normally used for practice and friendlies in the winter months but in 2021 Ifö Bromölla played their last two home games at MultiCopy Arena. Unfortunately Bromölla has already been relegated and I was not expecting locals to show up for this match. I was to be surprised, it was free entrance but it must have been close to 150 in attendance. Like myself VMA fans only had to drive for 20-25 minutes to this game and there was a considerable number of away fans present. One of those fans was Pål Lundin. The former Öster and Oxford United goalkeeper recognised me as I was waiting for kick-off. I ran into him when VMA played against Ariana in July and as was the case back then we had a nice chat about football.

In the last round anything can happen and the game this afternoon was no exception. Bromölla was by far the better team early on and it was soon 2-0 on the scoreboard. They then missed a penalty and instead of 3-0 it was 2-1 a few minutes later. With the last kick of the 1st half VMA equalised, 2-2 at half-time. VMA made it 3-2 in the 48th minute and I expected them to win easily. Bromölla once again took command of events on the pitch and two goals later it was suddenly 4-3 on the score-board. VMA had a few chances towards the end but Bromölla could hold on to a 4-3 victory. This was probably my last new ground in Sweden this year and I was quite pleased with my visit to MultiCopy Arena in Bromölla!
